Meet Jamie...

If you remember September 23rd's post, you'll see that a young man who fell in love with cats had passed recently. His friends made a donation in honor of his life and love of animals, asking that a cat be named after him.

Well, this is Jamie. He was one of the first cat's that came to be fostered with us at Cats Exclusive after we received that touching letter and generous donation. Jamie is outgoing, sweet, playful...and, as you can see, very handsome. He needs a home where he can live out his life happy and healthy, bringing years of honorable memory to his namesake. We hope human Jamie's spirit lives strong in the memories of his friends the way cat Jamie will live strong in our hearts and in his future home.

So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working,

every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.

Can you guess where the quote is from? I loved this particular movie because it reminds me so much of my life. I'm still waiting for a furrever home that won't make me earn my keep. Hehe. Cats Exclusive put me to work, but at least they gave me the pilot's chair! And at least they got rid of those screaming children for me! From what I hear, they'll be at the CFA Cat Show this weekend, but I'm gonna act like I don't know 'em. Darn kids...darn job! Come give me a home!! I work for food...apparently.

In Memory of Susan Napier

From all of the cats and caretakers of Cats Exclusive, we send our deepest sympathies and heart-felt wishes to the Napier family. Susan passed away last night...far too soon. Susan and her cats have been patients at our clinic for months, and her sad passing touches us all. We send our regards especially to Mr. Napier, whose life with Susan was undoubtedly brighter and whose life without her might never be the same. She will never be forgotten. We are so sorry for your loss.

Get My Belly!

I love when people rub my belly! Oh! By the way, they call me Mary, but my friends at Cats Exclusive poke fun at me, singing "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary." I can't image why they'd say that! I'm the sweetest little thing. I am always massaging the air with my little paws and purring until my body shakes. But I have to admit that sometimes I wake up and don't know where I am. I mean, I know I'm a little ditzy, but it's sort of scary the way everything goes black and then comes back again. I've heard weird words about it, including "seezzer" and something that sounds like "feenuhbarbibol." They tell me it just means I'm "special." I don't feel specialer than other cats. I just play until I'm tired and sometimes things are a little fuzzy. I am waiting for a family that can take care of me. I just need some food, water, toys, and gooey, gross medicine twice a day! Oh! And I need love. I'm just waiting...but till then, I roll over so everyone can get my belly!

To: The Cats and Kittens at Cats Exclusive,

Please accept this donation of $100 in memory of...my best friend (human) who passed away this year.

We were friends for almost 21 years. When I met him he didn't like cats - he said they didn't have personalities, like dogs did. Then one day, over 10 years ago, someone brought him an orphaned kitten to raise; as there was no one else to take the little fellow in. That was the beginning of the loving relationship between my friend and cats.

My friend named him Gandolf (from Lord of the Rings). Since then there were other cats. When my friend...passed away this summer, he had 2 cats. As his best friend, I tried to find a good, loving home for "Gandolf" and the other cat, "Little Girl." I could not take them in as I already had 6 cats and 2 dogs. But we kept them at our house till a suitable home could be found.

My friend's only surviving relative is a mean, wicked witch of a sister. When she arrived from out of town to clean out his house, she looked all over for the cats. She did not know we had taken them. She wanted to take them to animal control to have them put to sleep!! We told her that the cats must have run away.

Gandolf and Little Girl are now permanent members of our growing kitty family. Yes, there are 8 cats and 2 dogs (that's 40 paws and 10 tails!) I can't say they all get along, but they do the best they can. My 25 year old daughter will be moving into her own apartment soon and Gandolf and Little Girl will be going with her. The cats will be much more comfortable, just the 2 of them.

They miss my friend as much as I do. We're all trying to adjust without him in our lives.

This donation is in his memory. He was one of the greatest, kind hearted people I ever knew - especially when he learned that cats are loveable and have awesome personalities. If a kitten arrives without a name, please name it my friend's name. He would just love that.

Q*U*E*E*N*Y

I am Queeny, and I must say...this is the most undignified I have ever looked! And that "Magic Coat" shampoo is doing nothing wonderful for my hair. You might be thinking this looks like one of those massages about which you humans always obsess, but I am not so lucky. As you can see, that lady gave me an UNREQUESTED facelift. I mean, for goodness sake, where did my ear go? But! As my name suggests, I am a Queen, and I too shall bare these degrading situations with my crown held high.

However, I need a castle of my own...well, a castle of my and my sister's own. We have ruled as twins, and, even though we're both declawed, our 7 year reign has proven quite impressive. We rule by love, not fear. Maybe a kingdom of our own will ensure these indignities never happen again.

Hiya! My name is Snowflake. That’s my friend, Pastina. (Don’t tell her she’s a dog. I try not to hold it against her.) My new family just adopted me and gave me this beautiful collar. Bling bling! I’m so pretty all on my own that my mommy came all the way from Jupiter to get me. I thought that was a planet. I was so excited someone came across the whole universe just to get me! But then I was told it’s just a city in Florida. Oh well…I’m so important she made me a model! She just opened Pastina’s Pet Boutique, so I get to try on all the new merchandise.

That's me to the left, Peeps, and I do just that. I watch everything going on around here, never spilling the catnip on what’s really going on. As you know, Cats Exclusive specializes in finding adoptable cats furrever homes with loving humans. But it wasn’t until recently that I realized their dark secret! They’re selling Alien Cats! I swear! You don’t believe me? See for yourself. I caught these guys on camera. Weirdo animals...

Their heads and eyes are too big! Their bodies are too small! This is like something out of a science fiction movie. I can’t imagine how it is they weaseled their ways into my adoption center. But by all means, if you can bring yourself to adopt one of these obviously extraterrestrial cats, please do. I don’t discriminate. Even cats from other planets need furrever homes.

Ugly Cat?

Hey there! My name is Clover. You know...for luck! Well, my luck is like Florida's weather...changing every day. I wound up at Cats Exclusive, which is a great place to wait for a forever home, so that's lucky. But then I did end up in a shelter, so that's unlucky. Then I got adopted! Yay! Someone took me home and promised to love me forever. It was an exciting day, but those storms approach fast. My new family had to move and got pregnant! While I would have been a wonderful babysitter, they decided (for some reason) that I couldn't stay. I couldn't figure out what I did wrong. So back to CEI I went, head and tail down in sadness. As always Cats Exclusive welcomed me with open arms, and I've been enjoying my play time at the facility again. But there's still this cloud that hangs over me.

I've heard whispers and snickers behind my back, talk of being "ugly." Even the people who have come to look at cats haven't hesitated to say, "Not her, she's ugly." My Cats Exclusive family assures me there is no such thing as an ugly cat, but I can't help but wonder...am I an Ugly Cat?

ENCORE! ENCORE! Kawaii's Story

I was here with my sister, Kahlua, but she recently got adopted by a very nice, young man. Due to popular demand, I'm here for another night! Come see my encore! I'm on stage at Pets Unlimited on University Dr. until the end of Wednesday. Don't I deserve to get adopted, too? Man, I can't believe she went before me. She was so crazy and wild. I'm so calm and loving.

Curtain Call: Kahlua and Kawaii at Pets Unlimited

Hi! I'm Kahlua...looking cute as ever! My brother, Kawaii, and I have spent a couple of weeks at Pets Unlimited on University Dr. We've had a blast watching the parrots, the people, and the fish! I heard the Cats Exclusive volunteer who takes care of me say that our performance for the public has been the best. We play hard, get all the love we can from all the curious people, and take cat naps between shows.

But our time here is almost over! Our last show ends Saturday, July 5th. If you're interested in me or my brother, or both of us (wink wink), we'd love to meet you at Pets Unlimited. Come by and visit us!

Hey everyone! I am Celeste! I know I look like a goofball in the picture above, but I was having so much fun with the new leopard-feather toy! Anyways, I was recently moved up to the front cage with a bunch of other cats! The picture below is me playing with Turtle and Costello. I have been at Cats Exclusive for about a month and a half now. OH!! And I love to play with toys! My favorite is the leopard-feather toy and stuff mouse!

Although I like it here because I get the coolest toys, I would really love to have a home with nice parents who can give me a bunch of kisses and... TOYS!! I also wouldn't mind sharing my toys with other cat-mates!

Anyone want Starbucks?!

Hi! My name is Starry. *Purr* I've only been here at Cats Exclusive only for almost a week, and i've improved so much! Well lets see... I use to live near a coffee redolent cafe shop called Starbucks. I was very, very scared...I mean I had no mommy or sisters or brothers! Then one day this nice person started approaching me...I was so scared that I hissed at 'em! As soon as I knew, I was taken into this place and they gave me a really nice, shiny bowl of FRESH water!!! oh man...you can't get that at Starbucks!!! Then I got a nice plastic bowl with cats on it full of cat food! I also got a comfy bed (i'm sitting on it in my picture above!) and a fresh box of cat litter. I then realize that the people here are very nice and I love it when they pet me! I remember at first I didn't like to be pet but that is all I want now!!! I was first named "Bucky" because I was assumed that I was a boy...HEY I don't look that much like a man-cat! But I love my new name Starry and my temporary home right now. I really can't wait until more people come and visit me!!

Eye am doing well!

Hi everyone!!!!!! It's me, Pierre!! Ah, well I know I look a bit stranger than everyone else, but it is okay because all of my parents at Cats Exclusive say i'm the most handsome! I got my eye surgery last week, and as you can see my right eye is fully stitched up now. Ah man, the first few days I was kept in a cage and I just slept alllllll day. Then by the fourth or fifth day I was let out and I went and gave kisses to everyone! I'm supposed to get my sutures out next week..ah! Well, I just wanted to let everyone know that i'm alive and well!! I really hope I get a home soon...although my parents at Cats Exclusive told me that they will miss me very much...and I will miss them a lot too! But I would LOVE to have someone to watch tv and cuddle with every night, and even a nice kitty to play a lot of my toys with!

Hi!! My name is Stormy! I'm about 4 months old. Well where should I start...hmm... well, I don't know what that cat Joey below me is talkin' about...don't be intimidated by him because he's a "mancat" because he's the biggest softie, and nicest cat i've seen around here!

Anyways, today I got a brand new toy as you can see in the picture of me above! I love to bat it around *BAM BAM BAM!* and watch it slide across the room! I also got moved up to a really big cage up front today. Although I am having fun with my new toy and kitty-mates, I would really love to have a home and someone to snuggle with!

My name is Joey. Since I am a big Mancat (see my big whisker humps?), it is only right that I be the first to post here. This blog is for all of us shelter cats at Cats Exclusive, while we are in the shelter waiting for our forever homes, and after we have been adopted. Because we have lots of stories to tell!

Shelter cats are just like other cats, except we do not have a forever home yet. We like to play, eat delicious Stinky Goodness and treats, get brushed, and mostly, just be loved. I hope you will check out the wonderful cats here! Let me start by telling you a little about me.

I was born in February of 2003. This means I am 4 1/2 years old. I have been at Cats Exclusive since December 2006. I sure hope I have my very own home before next Christmas. I am a big boy, but I am a little bit shy. I like to be brushed and petted, and I will roll over so you can pet my tummy. Do you think I could be the Mancat for you?
